Purpose

Following the inaugural forum in held in Australia in November 2008, this annual event brings together Deans, Head of Schools, Head of Departments and leading professors in the area of Information Technology and Computer Science from top universities and research institutes in both countries, including the Group-of-Eight (Go8) universities in Australia, a group of selected “985” universities in China, and national research organizations. The main purpose is to enhance mutual understanding and research collaboration among top IT research universities and organizations between the two countries, to discuss common challenges, opportunities and strategies, and to share our experiences in building world-class research and higher education in IT research and education. Expected outcome from this series of events include opportunities for joint research projects and centres (with funding from Australia and Chinese Governments and other funding agencies), schemes for exchanging research students and staff, linked programs for PhD students, and policy development to enhance IT research and educational collaboration between the two countries.
